Walkers on The Annual Pathfinder March will travel through Elsworth during Sat 18th June. Up to 400 participants are expected to take part this year.
The March is organised through RAF Wyton and is held in recognition of the sacrifices made by the members of the Pathfinder Force. The Second World Wars’ RAF Pathfinder Force which was stationed at the historic Cambridgeshire airfields of Wyton, Graveley, Oakington and Warboys.
The annual March is a circular walk of 46-miles, following public roads, public rights of ways and footpaths that connect the 4 airfields. It is an extremely arduous event to complete, starting at 4 o’clock in the morning and has a 20-hour time limit, consequently many participants use the event as an opportunity to raise money for numerous local and national charities and good causes. It is open to both military personnel and members of the public.
