The Poacher Newsletter January/February 2017

Dear villagers,

Happy New Year to you all and may I start for thanking you all for your support in 2016.
Firstly, let me apologise for not posting Newsletters for the last couple of months, the pub has been very busy and due to some business and some personal reasons I have been up to my eyes in things. But a new year is now upon us and you have so much to look forward to at The Elsworth Poacher.

Christmas was full on for us with many companies using the pub for their Christmas functions and I am sure if you go by our Trip Advisor page people have been over the moon with how they have been looked after here.

We have a new chef here at The Poacher, Charlotte Lepski joined me in mid-December and has hit the ground running, myself and Charlotte have the same ethos about food and are launching the new Winter Menu on Friday 13th January, you can expect more traditional pub favourites on both the lunchtime and evening menus, book a table with us on launch day and get a free dessert with every main course. For the Winter, we will have some hearty meals on the table for you such as Curry of the Week, Smoked Haddock poached in Milk with Parsley Mash and a Poached Egg, also Lamb Chops with Potato Gratin, and there will be Root Vegetable Casserole and a Goats Cheese Salad for vegetarians. Look out for our Winter Warmers Sunday Menu which will have Stews, Pies, Sausages and Casseroles on it.

Quiz Night returns in January on Saturday 21st, as usual teams of up to six people with £2 entry per person, book soon as we know tables go quickly for the Quiz Nights, the following Saturday evening we will have a Burn’s Night Menu available, Haggis, Neeps and Tatties followed by Cranachan and a Dram for only £14.95 per person, once again book as soon as possible for this either by phone or email.

Elsworth AMC will as usual be with us on the last Monday of the month for a night of music and poetry, I know I have mentioned this before but it would be lovely to see more people down for this evening as it really is a very pleasant and relaxing evening’s entertainment.

Moving into February and we will have a Valentine’s Menu running from Saturday 11th through to Tuesday 14th, we will be serving Steaks for the first time during this period with a view to hosting monthly ‘Steak Nights. Two courses will be £17.95, Three courses £20.95 and for a Three course meal with a Bottle of wine it will be £50 per couple.

February’s Quiz night will be on Saturday 18th and will have a ‘Valentine’s’ theme to it and then once again Elsworth AMC will be with us on the last Monday of the month (27th).

Friday 24th February is my One Year Anniversary at The Elsworth Poacher so we will be holding a Disco Karaoke that night with a Staff Party to boot, everyone is welcome and there will be an Eastenders Fancy Dress Theme.

Through February and March the Rugby Union 6 Nations takes place, I am looking for some feedback from people regarding if they would like me to put a television in the bar at weekends to show the games as I did for Euro 2016 and the Rio Olympics.

I think that covers everything for the next couple of months, we look forward to seeing you all at The Elsworth Poacher, so once again may I wish you all a very happy New Year and let us hope a prosperous one.

Do not forget to follow us on Twitter, @david_poacher or friend us on Facebook,
