The Poacher August 2016 Newsletter

Dear villagers,

Another busy month has passed and we have finally seen some sunshine, our family barbeque was held in glorious weather and the Indian Cuisine Evening was another fantastic success. July’s Quiz had slightly less people than normal but was still an excellent evening and it was great to see some new faces, our Folk Evening on the last Monday of every month just gets better and better, I really would recommend people coming down to this as it is such a pleasant event and is really worth a listen (This months: Monday 29th August).

So on to the rest of August, we will not be holding a quiz this month as people will be away on holiday, so Saturday 10th September will be our next brain teaser. We have three events in the garden with our ‘Caribbean Food Evening’ starting things off on Saturday 13th, Jerk Chicken, Curried Goat, Plantain and many other exciting dishes to excite your taste buds, booking is advised and we are hoping for good weather. The following lunchtime we will be holding a Barbeque Family Lunch from 12pm until 4pm, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Kebabs, Salads and much more will be available and once again it may well be best to book your table. This will be repeated for the last Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 29th August so we hope to see you for all these events.

Through the Summer Holidays are Sunday Roasts have taken a break and we are now serving a ‘Summer Sunday Burger & Baguette Menu’, this is proving very popular in the warmer weather and there are also some Salads and Lighter dishes available.

As usual it is best to book a table on a Sunday Lunchtime, you can do this by telephone, email or pop in, we do recommend you book a table whenever you wish to eat with us at The Poacher. We are pleased to say that The Poacher is getting busier and busier, every customer is important to us and we always try to give the best service and standards, due to our small kitchen we try to stagger times of tables and when we have ‘walk in’s’ we do have to give priority to our booked tables. This can cause back log and us turning away customers on busy evenings which we never wish to do. So if you can please try and book with us, but obviously if you have not we will always do our best to look after you, but sometimes you may have to wait a little longer for your meals.

As you know we are very much a ‘Family Friendly’ pub with two new Highchairs just arriving to help our ‘Baby Poachers’, but we would also like to look after our ‘Young Poachers’, so if you have any toys or games that you do not need any more and you think are suitable for the pub we would love you to donate them to us to keep the youngsters entertained.

So with that let us hope for loads more sunshine and warm weather for August and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Best wishes David, Gary and Roscko
